Experienced Dockers outfit edge Kokofas in thriller

GORDON Kokofas kept Dockers against the ropes before surrendering victory in the Moni Plus-sponsored Port Moresby Australian Football League competition at the Colts Oval on Sunday.
Ahead by three goals five minutes from fulltime, Kokofas were forced into errors, including incorrect delivery of the ball. Panic crept in as Kokofas failed to contain Jason Logi, Desmond Kaumu, Emmanuel Tupia and Emmaus Wartovo who dominated the midfield to snatch an important 5.6 (36) to 5.2 (32) victory.
In the other matches on Sunday, University Tigers flogged Gereka Bombers 9.7 (61) to 0.1 (1) and Gerehu Magpies hammered Alavana Swans 9.9 (63) to 0.2 (2). In the women’s match on Sunday, Monica Tavara led Dockers to a 7.5 (47) to nil shutout of Magpies
On Saturday, reigning premiers and unbeaten ladder leaders West Eagles eased past Cats 10.10 (70) to 2.2 (14) and Koboni secured third spot on the ladder with a 7.9 (51) to 3.6 (24) win over Port Power in a convincing victory.
In the women’s matches on Saturday, Koboni thrashed Tigers 13.9 (87) to 0.1(1) and Kokofas defeated West Eagles 7.1 (43) to 3.5 (23) at the Colts Oval in Port Moresby.
