Drifters captain Samantha Tanza Emi says their 4-3 loss to the Stallions in the Central Touch Association women’s grand final last Saturday has given them confidence for next season.
“We came from behind to face the Stallions, who finished on top at the end of the regular rounds,” Emi said.
“Our semifinal victory over the Gud Jokers had motivated us to play confidently against the Stallions.
“The Scorpions’ narrow victory showed that we put up a strong challenge and that is something that the players are proud of.
“Despite losing, we are confident of coming back stronger next season.”
Emi said they started the season slow due to financial constraints.
However, under her guidance, the team found their groove and made a late charge towards the finals.
“Many people were surprised when we advanced to the finals after beating the Jokers,” Emi said.
“Some even came to congratulate us after the semis.”
Emi is hoping for more support next year.
