REIGNING champions West Eagles will be aiming to wrestle back pole spot when they face Kokofa-Cats in Port Moresby AFL’s top-of-the-table clash at the Colts Oval tomorrow (2pm kick-off).
New ladder leaders Kokofa-Cats will want to maintain pole spot after last week’s 53-0 flogging of Koboni-Magpies while the Eagles will be eager to assert their dominance.
Kokofa-Cats and the Eagles are on 12 points apiece with both sides registering three wins and one loss from their past four matches.
However, Kokofa-Cats have a slightly better points differential.
Dockers are in third spot (eight points) and cellar dwellers Koboni-Magpies are yet to record a point this season.
Eagles coach Danny Meli will want his men to dominate the opening quarter of their round-five clash.
“We started the season slow but we’re not making any excuses,” he said. “We need to play well and make this game count.”
Meanwhile, Dockers will be looking to bounce back from their 20-27 loss to the Eagles when they meet luckless Koboni-Magpies.
“We’re working hard to be competitive,” Dockers’ Stanis Isu.
“We’ve been stepping up after round three.”
