THE Port Moresby Rugby Football League competition kicks off its second round of the season with Dobo Warriors taking on Magani this weekend.
League administrator Meke Maino told The National yesterday that the next four weeks would see more competitive games compared with the first round.
He said this was due to draws being re-arranged which will see the top-four teams from the previous two pools being grouped in one pool while the remaining bottom teams make up another group in the premier and Under-20 divisions.
For the women’s division, Maino said four teams had been removed from the draw due to continuous forfeits in the first round.
“We are expecting much more competitive games in the remainder of the season,” he said.
“In the next four weeks, we will also arrange mid-week games so that we can complete all our matches within this period.
“It will allow us to hold our finals on time and we finish the season as planned.
“Regarding player registration, we will be checking the bank receipts of each players to make sure they are permitted to take the field.”
Meanwhile, Maino said spectators would be allowed to access the Oil Search National Football Stadium’s oval two from today.
He said strict Covid-19 protocols would apply.
“This will be the first time for us to have crowds this season,” Maino said.
