FORMER Papua New Guinea representative basketballer Dia Muri will head preparations for PNG’s men’s and women’s three-on-three teams for next year’s Melanesian Cup following his appointment as head coach.
Muri’s appointment follows Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea’s (BFPNG) announcement of national coaches and managers.
Muri has been appointed as head coach for the men’s and women’s teams who will be managed by BFPNG president Karo Lelai.
For the senior men’s five-on-five team, Ray Bonner has been appointed as head coach with Boyet Daroya as his assistant and Nick Daroa as team manager.
Moi Muri has been named as head coach for women’s five-on-five team, with Martha Aaron to be his assistant and Christabella Amona as team manager.
“BFPNG is pleased to release the revised national selection policy that encompasses selection criteria for the junior and senior teams and is intended to provide very clear selection criteria,” the federation said.
“The policy was reviewed by the national coaching director and the president of the Basketball Technical Commission before being finalised by the board.
“For clarity, please note that the independent member of the selection panel is a person that is not a board member, not part of the coaching nor team management and is not employed by BFPNG.
“Daroa will represent BFPNG on the selection panel for these trials together with the coaches’ team and independent members.”
