Easy transfer for Martin

KUMULS captain Rhyse Martin says his midseason transfer from the Australia’s National Rugby League to the English Super League has been smooth despite the Leeds Rhinos narrowly avoiding relegation.
Martin said though rugby league fans had their own views about the NRL and the Super League, he believed there was not much difference between the two top rugby league competitions in the world.
“For me, Super League kind of suits my game a little bit more,” he said.
“The Rhinos wanted me to part of their team in the midseason and I have really enjoyed that transition from the NRL to the Super league.
“I guess it has shown in my performance over there (Super League) and I am happy with the choice I made. Leeds are a powerhouse, they are one of the top clubs in the Super League.”
However, the former Canterbury Bulldogs forward said the Rhinos had a rough season and missed out on the finals.
Despite that, the 26-year old said the Rhinos were able to avoid being relegated to the Betfred Championship after notching consecutive wins in their run home to finish eight in the 12-team competition.
“When I got there, we weren’t doing too well,” Martin said.
“It went right till the end because we were fighting to avoid relegation.
“But we started to field a consistent side every week and we stringed a few wins together to ensure our place in the Super League for next season.”
