Education board stressing parents

Letters

I AM disappointed with the Morobe provincial education board (PEB) chairman Bob Aaron’s statement on school fees.
He seems to defy the Education minister’s policy statement that parents must not pay project fees above than 20 per cent.
Why is the chairman coming with new project fees?
Earlier on, we had Morobe education programme adviser Keith Tangui urging parents to pay parental components of this year’s school fees.
Are these people scheduled to speak on different occasions regarding parental project components?
The reason given by the chairman was that the Government did not give the money on time, but we have seen in the media that last year’s outstanding fees were paid and schools will be able to receive it before the schools start.
For this year, K632 million will be paid quarterly, schools will either receive their shares in the first quarter in the first or second week.
Can the Education minister and secretary discipline Morobe education officials for their continued outburst of urging parents to pay parental component fees according to what they have imposed.
In the meantime, who do we listen to?
Can the Morobe education officials stop putting more stress and pressure on parents who have already suffered from Coronavirus pandemic and related problems.

Concerned Parent,
