ELA Motors on Friday handed K100,000 to Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG) to honour their commitment as corporate partners of the sport in the country.
CPNG chief executive Greg Campbell said the funding boost preparations for the men’s, women’s and junior national teams for the 2021 calendar.
“This helps us enormously with sending players to Australia and all the games we got coming up with our training facilities here,” he said.
“We’re very grateful that in these trying times during the coronavirus pandemic, Ela Motors continues to help the sport.
“Ela Motors has supplied a vehicle for our head coach (Joe Dawes) while he’s in the country and they’ve been doing that for some years now and now they’ve come on board as a sponsor.
“As we know we’ve got a World Cup (T20) for the men in India next year and we’ve also got the women’s competitions and Under-19 matches coming up so this opens the door for us moving forward.”
Meanwhile Ela Motors chief executive Mitsuyoshi Okutsu on Friday said the support was aimed at developing the game and building stronger ties with the sporting community.
