THE first indication of a breakthrough in the standoff between the political and bureaucratic heads of Morobe surfaced last week in the mountains of Nawaeb, in Wain-Erap LLG, far from Lae city.

Deputy provincial administrator, Patilias Gamato assured Governor Kelly Naru of the administration’s cooperation following a recent spate of scathing attacks in the media.

“We acknowledge what has been stated in the media and we assure you that we will cooperate fully with you from here on,” Gamato told Naru and a gathering at Boana station last Thursday.

Gamato admitted that there are outstanding issues within the provincial administration but they are working to resolve them and would get their house in order to implement the Government’s policies.

Gamato also used the occasion to announce projects worth K1.4 million for the district.

These include a double classroom worth K200,000, a K700,000 assistance to a technical school and the construction of a new aid post for K500,000.

“As we speak, the aid post kit is being shipped to Lae and will be here for reassembling and construction in August,” Naru said.
