THE proposed Talum agro-industry project in Sirunki, Wabag district, Enga will benefit locals greatly, says Doron Zur, the site construction manager.
Zur told the Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas and officials who visited the site that the Israeli agro-industry project was expecting materials for the buildings which had already been designed.
“I’m confident we will be able to complete this project in months, not years,” he said.
“We have all things ready that will be shipped into PNG from Israel.”
He said the local communities would benefit a lot from the project.
“Agricultural goods processed from here will be sold locally and internationally,” he said.
Zur said packed agricultural produce from the project would be labelled with “Made in Sirunki” as it brand name.
“The land here in Sirunki is ideal for growing cabbages, carrots, peas, strawberries and other vegetables that is ideal for a cold climate,” he said.
“We will add a little fertilizer and the rest will be done by the fertile soil here.
“We will also conduct classes for local farmers so they can be taught the basics on how to cultivate the land well to grow vegetables and sell to us for packing and processing.”
