SOUTHERN Highlands Governor William Powi wants to improve infrastructure and government services in the province.

He told members of the provincial assembly, including Prime Minister Peter O’Neill that the provincial government would focus on improving existing services rather than initiating new projects.

“My government will not break any new grounds because there is no ground to be broken as we will concentrate on all existing major infrastructure in the province except the Tona-Piambil and the missing link, the Kutubu-Bosave road.

“We will concentrate on resorting, rehabilitating and stabilising existing province roads in the province to allow free flow of traffic and other developments to take place smoothly,” Powi said.

He said his government had already started restoring and rehabilitating major provincial roads using his provincial service improvement programme funds of K25 million.
