THE family of a 34-year-old man diagnosed with brain tumour is appealing for financial assistance so he can be treated at a hospital in Singapore.

Kevin Nero, from Nimbogu village, in Kubalia, East Sepik, requires an urgent operation at the Raffles Hospital in Singapore.

Parents Theo and Anastasia Nero said the tumour was first detected in 1999,  but after 10 years Theo was diagnosed with brain tumour at the Pacific International Hospital in 2009.

The initial signs showed that Kelvin had meningitis.

Nero said Kevin this year began to have fever and become unconsciousness from time to time.

“We took him again to the Pacific International Hospital for a chemotherapy  (CT) scan at our own expense.

“Doctor Alexander Paul told us that Kevin had an infectious sore in the skull and immediately referred him to the Port Moresby General Hospital to undergo urgent operations,” Theo said.

“Doctors cannot do much with inadequate equipment so they referred our son to the Raffles Hospital in Singapore for an urgent operation at the cost of K50,000.

“I am now calling on relatives and good Samaritans to assist our son to go for the surgery.”

He said those willing to assist can contact the Neros on telephone 73073330 or 71275451 or make direct deposits into his BSP Wewak.  The account name is Kevin Nero and the account number is 1001027544.
