Festival expected to boost SMEs

Business

The annual East Sepik Crocodile Festival will bring a lot of income opportunities for the local small-medium entrepreneurs, festival committee president Alois Mateos says.
“It is beneficial for venders, the local women, people who sell artefacts and everyone,” Mateos said.
“We have reports from the previous years that artifact dealers sell and make up to K4,000 to K5,000 in the space of three days.
“The festival brings in a lot of impact for small entrepreneurs because there are a lot of income activities that take place during the festival.”
Mateos said tourists took tours along the Sepik River when attending the festival, benefiting the tour guides.
“The tour guides take tourists on tours along the river and back to the festival and they make a good sum of money,” he said.
