THE PNG Fire Service will hold its annual provincial commanders’ meeting in Mt Hagen from June 24 to 28.

The theme is “Strengthening service delivery: a provincial focus”.

According to deputy chief fire officer – operations Esau Mamam, the meeting will cover feature the introduction of the Brigade Management Guide (BMG) that describes the organisation of duties and services by shifts within the stations.

 This follows the need for each fire station to have personnel devoted to activities that will enhance community safety while on constant standby for possible emergencies.

The meeting will also cover:

  • Translating the PNG Fire Service Strategic Development Plan and the BMG into planned activities at stations within respective provinces;
  • Identifying the budgetary requirements for these planned activities for inclusion into the PNG Fire Service budget for 2014;
  • Reporting on implementations of planned activities; and updates on other organisational and administrative initiatives.

“We are inviting stakeholders from the central agencies and other partner agencies as resource people to facilitate and guide discussions under various agenda at the meet.”
