Firm gets zebra right after accident

BOC PNG Ltd in Lae has painted zebra crossing for the benefit of both drivers and pedestrians.
The old marking on Mangola Street has faded, resulting in an accident which put the victim in hospital last month.
BOC’s Vincent Baki said they did the painting as a community service.
BOC painted the crossing last week.
“A few employees of BOC took time off on New Year’s eve to get the crossing painted,” Baki said. “In many roads in the city now, one can hardly recognise crossings and other important markings.”
Baki said it was especially dangerous when it rained.
Land transport’s Momase regional acting manager, Thomas Alai, said most “zebra crossings in main streets in Lae have faded”.
