Fode centre releases Covid-19 pack to assist students

THE Lae flexible open distance education (Fode) centre has released an incentive pack for students to use in their studies during the pandemic.
The pack has a tablet phone and study materials.
It comes under an education and emergency response recovery plan started last year.
The education plan has four phases:

  • WAYS to help children not learning well because of the effects of the Covid-19;
  • MAKING the school safe so that students can return to classes;
  • MAKING sure they are safe in school; and,
  • MAKING schools resilient to future emergencies and disruptions.

Five students each from the Fode centre, community college and Emmanuel Lutheran School were given packs containing a phone tablet and study materials.
Education official Benny Rayappan said students who did not get a pack would be assisted in other ways.
“These are tools that students can use to reactivate their studies and to assist them during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic,” Rayappan said.
Morobe acting education adviser Keith Tangui said the recovery plan was to allow students to have a better education.
