FORMER Porebada councillor Arua Dairi is disappointed with Kairuku-Hiri MP Paru Aihi suggesting that he was using the media for political reasons.

“I was not happy with how Aihi drew conclusion that my actions were political or deceitful ways to obtain money,” Dairi said.

He said that his objective was neither politically linked nor deceitful ways to obtain money.

He explained that they were mourning the death of a toddler when a reporter asked about the cause of death and he gave his opinion blaming the wind and the deteriorating walkway at the village as the likely

causes for the loss of the toddler’s life – no other intentions whatsoever.

Dairi said he understood that Kairuku-Hiri electorate was a big electorate to look after but they never asked for any money.

He said that he also agreed that negligence by the guardians of the toddler at that time could be blamed.

However, he said even if the door was left open and if the pathways had no big gaps, there could be possibility in saving the child’s life.

The comments followed the death of a toddler last week at Porebada village.

The body was found floating on the water.
