PERSONS with disabilities (PWDs) at the Cheshire Disability Services received a donation of cash and food stuff worth K15,000 over the Christmas period.
The Sri Lanka-PNG Friendship Foundation made the presentation at Hohola, Port Moresby, last month.
Cheshire programme and operations officer Tom Sarwan, in the presence of his staff and some of the members of the place formerly known as Cheshire Home, thanked the foundation for its assistance.
“This is a huge help from the foundation and we are always grateful for any donations regardless of whether they come in the form of cash or kind, or whether they are big or small,” he said.
Sarwan said their operations depended on donations from individuals, corporate bodies and partners such as ExxonMobil and Oil Search Foundation and now Sri Lanka-PNG Friendship Foundation.
Foundation president and Consul for Sri Lanka to PNG, Panditha Bandara, told The National that Christmas was a time of giving and sharing with not only loved ones but also with those who were in need.
“These donations of basic food supplies and toiletries were donations from individual members of the foundation,” he said.
