Fuel thieves at service stations

Letters

WRITE to comment on the criminal activities at fuel service stations in Port Moresby, which target corporate vehicles using fuel cards or purchase order to fill.
Be alert.
What happens here is that when a fuel attendant fills up the tank of a corporate vehicle that has an account with them, he will not shut the pump to reset it when he’s done, but will instead fill another vehicle on the same account.
This way the corporate vehicle that has gone before foots the bill for both vehicles and the service attendant pockets the cash from the second vehicle.
If you find out and raise the matter, the attendants will become defensive and even aggressive.
Criminals and fuel attendants alike are preying on our inability to be observant and keep an eye on what is happening around us.
