The PNGHF since 2015 has been aiming to see the expansion of the game throughout PNG and this is happening steadily with the input of the international experts and some trained Papua New Guineans.
Notable achievements for the PNGHF are the recognition as a full member of the International Handball Federation (IHF) giving the PNGHF voting rights at the IHF World Congress, the facilitation of professional IHF inputs in the beach and indoor versions of the game by international experts, the adaptation of the sport into some schools, and participation at the International Handball Federation Oceania Junior Men’s Tournament in New Zealand and Cook Islands respectively.
Papua New Guinea now ranks in the top five of 16 Oceania nations actively playing the sport and continues to drive its introduction to other provinces to give all an opportunity to be part of a very inclusive sport.Support through financial sponsorship of the sports domestic and international programmes was a challenge but there has been support from companies such as Blue 7 Team Events and Productions, Goodman Fielder through their Skel Rice brand, Post PNG Ltd, Funeral Home, Datec PNG Ltd, DTY Lawyers, Niutel Engineering, Air Niugini, PNG Sports Foundation, PNGSF High Performance Sport, and the National Sports Trust Ltd.
