Getting ready for autonomy

Letters

Morobe is among three provincial governments next in line for autonomous status, therefore we, Morobeans, should start being involved in how things will develop.
For this, the Morobe provincial government should form a committee, with the provincial administrator its chairman. The committee should canvass public opinion on issues like district boundaries, the mining act and the sharing of wealth with the national Government. Morobe should have its own provincial revenue office and revive the council head tax.
It should also have its own reserve police force to be stationed throughout the province and funded by the local council.
This reserve police force shall come under the deputy provincial administrator operation.
The provincial government should have its own laws on marine resources, forestry, agriculture, mining, and taxation, including liquor licensing.
