Give local firms a go

Letters

We recently had a high-powered Government delegation which went to India in search of a biometric voter registration and voting system.
While they were there in India, there was huge data leakage of the biometric data of its population.
Can the Government stop this reckless spending and try our own local software development companies?
There are far better biometric hardware options available.
These can be used, along with its software development kits, for custom software development right here in PNG.
Why are we going abroad?
The population biometric data is of national security and it must be guided with top secrecy.
Huge government software projects like National Identification, Integrated Financial Management System, and Lands System never included local PNG software engineers.
No wonder we are in a mess.
Foreigners may already
have visibility of our data from daily finance operations of bio-data.
