MINISETR for Finance and Rural Development Rainbo Paita says Parliament will announce a few new policies to promote the public-private-partnership (PPP) Act.
He said this would be announced in the next parliament sitting.
The minister made the statement during a media conference on Friday following the launch of a sales academy by Coca Cola Amatil (PNG) in Port Moresby.
“In terms of PPP, there was a legislation put forward, I think in 2015, or 2014.
“Around that time, Parliament approved the PPP Act in which it sets out the parameters of the act and at the same time our policy in terms of partnering with companies in the PPP space.
“And that was assisted by ADB in putting together the policy which anchored the legislation.
“This administrative process is not coming into effect which is under Treasury Department.
“We are in the process of setting up the centre.”
The minister said arrangements like PPP would address some of the Government’s shortfalls.
“Government cannot address all the issues that we have.
“One major component is training and empowerment of our people, which we look forward to partnering with the private sector.”
