Government questioned on Covid-19

IALIBU-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill says Prime Minister James Marape has finally admitted there is a community spread of the Covid-19 in the country after denying it earlier.
O’Neill, the leader of the People’s National Congress Party, also called on Marape to tell the people if the Asian Development Bank has “scaled back financial support” to PNG.
“With the 10th Covid-19 case now declared, and reports that there are dozens more positive results awaiting secondary testing in Queensland, this government must get serious and deal with
the Covid-19 outbreak,” O’Neill said.
“If (it) does nothing, our country stands on the brink of the largest loss of life caused by a disaster in our history.”
He said the party had offered to work with the Government in a bipartisan spirit “to manage the crisis in the context of our unique situation in PNG”.
“Our people expect leaders to put aside differences when we are faced with a crisis, and work together so we can save lives,” he said.
“To properly manage this crisis, we need to reach out to Australia to undertake the level of testing that is required, and to deploy trained officers to strengthen our contact tracing capacity.”
O’Neill said it was clear that community transmission existed.
“Our capacity for contact tracing has also not proven successful, with not a single confirmed case of community transmission detected.
“The Government should ask Australia to consider ways for the immediate sharing of their successful Covidsafe mobile phone application, or similar platforms that will work in our country.
“PNG has a very high uptake of mobile phones across our country, and I know all telecommunications companies will work with the government to make use of this contact tracing app free of charge to our people.”
He also queried the funding expected from the ADB.
“Why has no funding been received by the government from the ADB’s partial credit guarantee facility this year as programmed in the 2020 Budget?
“And has this programme funding been cancelled outright?
“This is a new economic crisis and he must explain this latest failure.
“While the Treasurer said recently that the ADB was slashing from US$300 million (K1bil) to US$190 million (K657mil), it appears that this has now been cut to zero.
“Concerns have been voiced in the Bank headquarters that the ADB does not want to provide guarantees to enable the Marape administration to access funds.”

  • PNC leader says, people are suffering because of SOE sometime ago and now he’s saying the opposite!!
There are no fools in PNG, only the illiterate in remote areas.
The Government is taking necessary steps on contact tracing. and are still working on it.

I think if the previous government is still in power, PNG will be the worst affected region in the pacific. In saying this from past experience on earth Quake mismanagement.

  • Peter O’Neil, just last week I commented about you using covid-19 pandamic issue to play your petty politics. YOU WANTED PRIME MINISTER MARAPE TO IMMEDIATELY STOP THE RESTRICTION OF PEOPLE AND LIFT THE SOE. I told you not to play politics with this deadly disease. NOW YOU SEE WHAT HAS HAPPENDED???
GET THE F OF YOUR BACKSIDE AND DO SOMETHING POSITIVE TO ASSIST. REGARDLESS OF WHICH SIDE OF THE PARLIAMENT YOU SEAT YOU ARE STILL AN MP AND FORMER PRIME MINISTER. USE YOUR NETWORK, MONEY FROM YOUR INVESTMENTS AND START HELPING IN AREAS WHERE YOU THINK THE GOVERNMENT HAS NOT COVERED.
OTHERWISE JUST SHUT YOU DAMN MOUTH AND FOCUS ON YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY Coz you are another stupid politicians.

You just keep your dam mouth shut and let the other members of Parliament talk about any issues that affecting the country. IT DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL WHEN YOU OPEN YOUR SHIT AND AS IF YOU REALLY CONCERNS ABOUT THESE COUNTRY AND IT PEOPLE.

Talk to save lives not your shits and petty politics in the time of need

  • Straight after the dumping of Somare Government, we all were so proud and declared that God has done this changes of the government for our refuge, yet we didn`t find out the real motives of the PO and his team had have for the change of Somare Government. Some years later, we found out the real O`Neil the goat was in the sheep body in the first places was stick-out and we all cried again for the next change of government. After seven solid years, PO government has changed and now we have a new government ( JM government), but still don`t know is this government good or bad. People, only the time will tell so lets not criticise our former leaders and wait to see the outcome of this government`s plans and policies.

  • Peter O`Steal ,we are sick and tired of you already. You shouldn`t be opening your mouth freely and talk! You should be ashamed of yourself and be quiet as you`ve been heavily robbed this country so badly and by now you should be in prison. You should be thankful that the laws in our country isn`t that strong so you`re playing up with it. One fine day you would reap what you saw during your 8 year regime
