MOROBE Governor Kelly Naru has welcomed the synergetic move by Lae MP Loujaya Kouza to join forces and move the province forward.

The two leaders who had not been seeing eye to eye on political matters recently were seen cutting a cake together during an event to mark the 40th Independence Anniversary celebration in Lae last week.

Kouza said there was no point in leaders working separately.

She said the people wanted progress and strong leadership.

Naru who supported Kouza said she was right.

He said they had their own differences, which was based on political positions.

“We had our own differences but this difference of opinion is based on our political position, which obviously cannot linger on,” he said.

“As we enter the next 40 years, there is a call for unity and cooperation that have to be embraced by leader so that Morobe can progress and prosper.”

Naru said the Lae City Act, which Parliament had passed would be dealt with in due course.

“Our resolve has been that the constitutional validity of the act will be challenged as and when the Government brings into operation, we will appropriately make a decision,” Naru said.

He said he was looking forward to working with Kouza in improving services in the province.
