THE National Capital District Commission (NCDC) is eyeing a bigger turnout for this year’s edition of the NCD Governor’s Cup with organisers to finalise preparations for the weeklong rugby league tournament this week.
Tournament director Simon Nuabo told The National that the Cup’s organising committee was currently in talks to finalise the draws and venues with Sir John Guise Stadium and Murray Barracks currently proposed to be host venues.
“Last year, we had 32 teams participate so we’re expecting a big turnout this month,” he said.
“We’ve decided to stick with our usual system of the top eight teams advancing from the pools rounds and head straight into our finals. We’ve learnt a lot from the past years so we’re hoping to have a smooth flow of games this year.”
