THE Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea’s (BFPNG) three-on-three challenge is in its third week with men’s team registering to vie for prize monies in Port Moresby every Sunday.
BFPNG executive officer Nick Daroa said the challenge was gaining a lot of interest.
“Players are looking forward to it every Sunday,” he said.
“The challenge started with 10 teams but Kamuna Saints have now registered two teams.”
The last two Sundays saw Sultan, led by the Muri brothers, dominate the challenge.
Sunday’s matches will depend on the number of teams registering for the challenge.
Daroa said the winners and runners-up would claim K1,000 and K500 respectively.
The teams that have so far registered are Legacy Kings, Gaire, Falcons, Ballerholics, Gems group, Kaugere, RTA Tamaraws, Kuti Vibes, Wizards, Sultan and the two Saints sides.
The competition is a month-long challenge which will see 24 matches played on two courts in three hours.
Daroa said the challenge was only for Port Moresby but BFPNG was looking at rolling out the initiative in other centres across the country.
