Gumine-Karimui road project

Letters

ON behalf of the people of Gumine, Kumai Bomai, and Dikne local level government council areas, I wish to respond to a letter published earlier this month about the Gumine-Karimui Road project.
Karimui is a very fertile valley and has often been referred to as the land of milk and honey, economic corridor, Canaan, and blessed with rich soil.
It can grow many types of crops and in large scale too.
We are happy that the Gumine-Karimui Road is progressing well – thanks to a funding of K30 million from the national government – and has reached the first village of Talbakul.
There are only 11 kilometres left for it to reach Waghi (Tua) River before moving on to the other side to connect to the rest of Karimui area.
The Gumine-Karimui Road was gazetted by National Executive Council and no one should try to divert the scope of work to an ungazetted area.
