HARLEQUINS made their Capital Rugby Union return after serving a two-week ban as they recorded a 27-7 win over Valley Hunters in the premier division at Bava Park on Saturday.
The round-six fixture was an important game for the Max Kautu-coached Hunters who wanted to maintain their winning streak after recording wins in the previous two rounds.
However, the Harlequins had the size in the forwards and speed in the backs which outclassed their opposition as they scored five tries over the Hunters who only scored one try through Bruno Tuaki.
Despite the Hunters’ early lead of 7-0, Harlequins scored five unanswered tries in the remainder of the game.
Fullback Ron Butler scored a double in his side’s five-try haul.
But he had a goal-kicking day to forget as he only managed to convert one try.
Butler scored Harlequins’ first try five minutes after the Hunters opened the scoring.
He completed his double two minutes before halftime to put his side in front 10-7 at the break.
The Hunters came into the second half with a lot of confidence, knowing they were only trailing by three points.
Despite some early resistance, the Hunters had no answers for the Harlequins pack who continued to win the battles up the middle of the park, causing a lot turnovers.
