HEADMASTERS of three primary schools in Lae, Morobe, received keys to new houses worth K350,000 from the Lae development authority.
Lae MP John Rosso, on Monday, visited 4-Mile, St Martin’s and Butibum primary schools to hand over the keys to the fully furnished houses.
Rosso, the Lands and Physical Planning Minister, said Lae had 22 primary schools and each of them would get a headmaster’s house through funding from the district’s funds.
He said the schools would also have eight-in-one classroom buildings built over the next two years.
Rosso said education was a priority for the Lae development authority.
He said K2 million was allocated annually from Lae’s district services improvement programme (DSIP) funds.
He said the district would focus on providing headmasters’ houses before moving to teaching facilities and teacher accommodation.
Rosso said teachers and school staff that were properly looked after would be able to do their jobs better which would benefit the students.
