DEPUTY Prime Minister and Treasurer Charles Abel has commended Hela for showing unity during the presentation of the 2018 provincial budget.
Abel said despite the Hela facing many law and order issues, it was good to see the people coming together to work on the provincial budget with the theme, “Building a province from lessons of the past”.
Abel said the Government was fully behind the people of Hela.
“Our aim is to make sure that the gas from your land is translated into opportunities for your people,” Abel said.
Governor Philip Undialu, provincial administrator William Bando, Koroba-Lake Kopiago MP Petrus Thomas and Tari MP James Marape were all there when the budget of K474 million was presented to Abel. Undialu said the budget was put together by Hela’s political leaders, the provincial government and administration.
“This is the way forward for us. We want to stand united in everything we do and build Hela on lessons of the past,” he said.
