Hela win scrappy affair

THE Hela Wigmen scored their second win over neighbours the Mendi Muruks with a scrappy 28- 16 win in their round 10 Digicel Cup clash at the National Football Stadium on Sunday.
The win saw the Hela side maintain their top five spot while the Muruks are in seventh spot on the ladder.
A poor ball-handling display by both sides had their coaches seeing red with Wigmen’s Rodrick Puname and Muruks Thomas Undupia not impressed with the mistakes.
The Wigmen made better use of the ball and were able to win the territory game in the first half which saw them take a commanding 20- 10 to the sheds at halftime.
Wigmen Daniel Tapul (2) and Benjamin Hetra bagged the tries while crafty hooker Stanley Olo converted all four and added a penalty for good measure.
Muruks centres Ken Andrew and partner Dickson Pipi returned serve with No.9 Warren Glare landing a goal. The second 40 minutes was a mess with Hela scoring two tries to Mendi’s one.
