Teams told to suit up right

THE Port Moresby Rugby League board will impose tough measures on teams not wearing uniforms this weekend.
PRL board chairman Dr James Naipao said all the affiliated clubs were given ample time to get their club uniforms in order in the first half of the competition.
Naipao said: “We will not entertain teams wearing different colours running out to play especially in the A grade but also for the other divisions.
“Every club has their traditional colours and we want to see them wear those colours.”
Naipao warned clubs that players who wore different colour jerseys, shorts or socks would be removed and replaced or would not re-enter the field of play unless he or she wore their team’s uniform.
“This is not a bush league that we use all sorts of colours to play in a PNGRFL-sanctioned competition. We must have standards and be proud of our clolours,” Naipao said.
“The onus is on the club executives and management to get their acts in order and source the funding to acquire the uniforms for the players for the betterment of the club, players and competition.
“We are the premier league in the country and should show it.
Naipao said most of the clubs had full sets of uniforms for their grades while some were still struggling to look like a coordinated outfit on game day.
“We are in the second half of our competition and we have given clubs enough time to get their houses in order,” Naipao said.
