Hitolo Sharks make strong finish in final

HITOLO Sharks led from the start to claim a 10-2 win over Titans in the Arere Touch and Soccer Association men’s final in Port Moresby over the weekend.
Sharks drew first blood in the opening quarter of the touch final as right wing Jason Uri finished a set move for a 4-0 lead. Scott Maa failed to add the two points.
Titans, however, reduced the deficit to two points in the next quarter when Terence Kuma and Lionel Amukele added a field goal each to trail 2-4.
It was after the break that Sharks really found their groove.
In one of their many forays, Sharks found a lapse in the Titans defence and Maa found a way through to score off an inside pass, but he was denied the try by a touch call.
However, that did little to deter them as Sharks kept threatening the Titans defence.
It was midway through the second half when Sharks’ Awi Masia created a two-on-one situation after selling a dummy near halfway.
He sent winger Herman Kaupa to race in untouched and Nigel Nusa added the extras to seal the win.
