The ID24 National Capital District Eastern Highlands off-season rugby league competition resumes at the Taurama Barracks Oval this weekend after a two-week break.
League chairman Benny Kene told The National yesterday that the competition had completed its first five rounds before Christmas last year.
“We’ll have another five weeks of matches before the finals,” he said.
“Some teams like TK Maroons and Gordon Ridge have been in-form since the start of the off-season but competition is tight so the next five weeks will be interesting.”
Kene commended the teams for maintaining discipline throughout the season.
But he has called on supporters to refrain from using abusive language during matches.
Meanwhile, Kene has called on teams to pay their outstanding registrations fees at the resumption of the competition.
“We would appreciate it if clubs with outstanding fees come forward and pay their dues.
“We’ve given enough time for them to pay so we are now going to take action, which may see clubs forfeit their matches due to non-payment.
“The notice has already been given so we expect teams to be prepared to pay before this weekend but if clubs are not ready to pay, then we will consider calling off their matches.
“This will help us to be better organised when we head into the finals.”
