PRINCESS Anne welcomed efforts to support girls’ education as she visited the Caritas Technical Secondary School in Port Moresby yesterday.
“I’m particularly pleased to come here because very early on, the first organisation I ever became involved with was Save the Children, whose main efforts have been towards girls’ education,” she said.
“Which is why I’m so pleased to be here to recognise the efforts that have been given at Caritas Technical College to support girls through education.”
She watched cultural items and presented a plaque representing the people of Central.
She told the students that school was the place to equip them with the necessary life skills that would build on their existing ones and give them choices about what they want to do in their adult life.
“But it’s also about enjoying being part of the education process, enjoying making new friends and respecting each other, wherever you come from,” she said.
