Integrity vital in building a strong nation: Walters

Faith

Integrity is a moral value in leadership that needs to be practiced, Body of Christ chairman Reverend Joseph Walters says.
“Whether it is leadership in politics, in family, in church or other areas of life, the practice of integrity is a vital link to building a strong nation,” Walters said.
“Leadership is not always about style, status, charisma or clout. It’s not about how the world measures success.”
Walters said integrity was missing in many people’s lives and the nation as a whole nowadays.
He encouraged everyone to be honest, have humility and refuse pride.
“Reject the temptation to surrender or succumb cheaply to bribes, lures and inducements,” he said.
“One of the best yardsticks a nation can use to measure its success, prosperity, standard and general quality of living is the moral characteristic of integrity.
“Integrity brings out the idea of being the same person that you are and others see and know, both in private and public life, as opposed to being hypocritical, lying, cheating and having double standards.”
He said in the Bible King  David, was perhaps the most successful ruler that led Israel to power, prosperity and much blessings for 40 consecutive years, led his nation “by integrity of heart and guided it by the skilfulness of his hands”.
Walters said according to Psalm 78:72 integrity was about staying true to a promise even under trying or changed circumstances.
“Integrity is built by winning the temptation to be dishonest. If the Lord judges a nation, He uses the people’s righteousness and integrity as His measuring yardstick, Prov 10.9, 11:3,” he said.
