Interim softball body elected

THE PNG Baseball Softball Confederation has elected an interim executive to get its house in order, with support from the PNG Olympic Committee.
The PNGOC hosted an in-house special general meeting on March 8 in Port Moresby to vote in the interim executives to take on the confederations affairs, until a proper annual general meeting takes place.
Softball has not been active sport among other sporting codes in PNG and that has resulted in the decline of participation in the country.
PNG were the gold medalist in the 2015 Pacific Games held in Port Moresby. The sport was not included in the past two games in Samoa (2019) and Solomon Islands (2023).
A big challenge now lies with the current interim executives led by president Jenny Paak to ensure softball complies with PNGOC’s requirements.
The interim executives have locked Sept 13-16 for an upcoming National Softball Championship with the venue to be confirmed in the following weeks.
An annual general meeting will coincide with the national championship to elect executives of the confederation.
The interim executives are president Jenny Paak (Port Moresby Men’s Softball Association), vice president senior: Lindsay Pulu (Lae Softball Association), vice president junior: Ian Soweni (Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association), Treasurer: Nancy Palin (Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association), secretary: Isikel Tovia Jnr (Port Moresby Men’s Softball Association), games coordinator: Constantine Bais (Port Moresby Men’s Softball Association).
