TWO Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup NCD leg playoff matches on Friday were called off after players continuously disputed referee calls throughout the matches.
The drama-filled clashes ended with the referees walking off of the field.
Referee Patrick Imo walked off the field after a QPR Colts player disputed a penalty. The match between the Colts and FK Vanua Dust was then suspended.
The incident happened again during the match between Storms and Jets.
A Jets’ supporter touched the referee while the game was still in progress which resulted in the referee exiting the field.
An official decision by competition manager Sam Koi and CCIC Southern region director Simon Maima will be given this week.
Both the Jets and QPR Colts are most likely to pay fines for their matches to be re-played.
The CCIC board will hold a brief meeting this week to decide the possible outcome of the matches.
Paga Panthers, who beat Erima Wanderers in the knockouts will play either Colts or Dust depending on the decision of the CCIC officials.
However, the referees and officials remain doubtful given the treatment they have been receiving from supporters and players.
They want the officials of CCIC to make sure their security is guaranteed.
Meanwhile, the Central leg successfully completed their final games with the grand final being a tough but entertaining one between the Vadavada United and Harbour City Tornadoes. Tornadoes beat United 4-0 to claim the gold pass.
