ACCORDING to this season’s terms and conditions governing the Ipatas Cup competition, only eight teams will come from every participating centre.
Registration for Ipatas Cup in the Momase region will close tomorrow.
That means Madang, Kainantu, Markham, Ramu, Bulolo and Lae are competing for only eight slots.
Momase coordinator Mona Tonsy Clyde said registration forms had been distributed and the first eight who registered would be accepted.
So far six Momase teams have already registered with two vacant slots to fill by tomorrow.
Clyde said the venue for the Momase play-off is yet to be confirmed.
The game could be staged in Lae or moved to another venue in Momase in keeping with the competition’s slogan of improving rugby league in rural areas.
Teams confirmed are Lae Biscuit Spiders, Kamkumung Crushers, Kainantu, Markham Ramu Bulolo and the Bumbu Barbarnas.
Meanwhile the official calendar launching of the Ipatas cup will be at Aviat Club during the Toyota Enga Mioks presentation night on Dec 16.
Newly appointed general secretary for the Ipatas Cup Molly Perry Geno will confirm the other teams from the Southern, Islands and the Highlands regions after the launching.
Geno said more than 216 team had shown interest in this year’s competition but only a set number of teams from each region could qualify for the cup play-offs.
