Is the Correctional Services at war?

Letters, Normal

IT looks like the Correctional Services and its minister are on a shopping spree.
Why does it need to buy so many weapons?
Is it at war and with whom?
I wonder why such a huge amount of taxpayers’ money is being used to buy sophisticated weapons.
Tony Aimo’s decision to buy weapons must be reviewed.
These guns will turn CS officers into cowboys inside our jails.
The money could have been used to maintain the rundown houses of the CS officers and maintain jails. Some of our jails are not fit for humans to live.
I hope the CS management has looked into such needs before making the decision to buy weapons.
Most prisons in PNG are unfit for humans to live in.
We have also seen people dying of diseases like malaria, typhoid, TB, etc, from overcrowded and unhygienic prisons.
Yet the CS sees fit to spend such huge amounts on sophisticated weapons.
Buying weapons is not the solution.
It is a waste of funds.
