Jamas survive Telikom scare to maintain pole position

COMPETITION leaders Jamas survived a scare from PTPSL Telikom, holding on to win 3-2 in the National Capital District Volleyball Association men’s premier division at Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
Jamas, with their height advantage in George David, Antonio Eri, Bruce Kila and setter Martin Ray, started strongly, producing powerful spikes and offensive blocks at the net to see out the match.
Telikom controlled their passes, with Erick Wari improving his setting to connect well with hitters Jeffery Charlie, David John, Rocky Mea and Ian Wari to win the second and fourth sets forcing the game into a tie-breaker.
Jamas’ George David proved the difference in the decider.
Telikom blockers could not contain him at the net as he produced blow after blow to lead Jamas to victory and maintain their top placing.
In the other results, Edatec Scorpions defeated Vailima 3-1 and MJ U-Mi Yet nailed Ela Motors 3-0.
In the women’s matches, PTPSL Telikom ousted Jamas 3-1 and Edatec Scorpions beat Vailima 3-1.
