Japanese govt donates books to teacher’s college

THE Melanesian Nazarene Teachers College (MNTC) in Jiwaka has received 920 text books from Japanese Aid to help students in their primary school teacher training.
The Japanese government through their grant aid for the economic and social development programme for Papua New Guinea, delivered more than 20,000 text books to schools in Jiwaka earlier this month.
A total of 115 primary schools will be benefit from these books.
MNTC was also a beneficiary to these books, comprising mathematics and science text books for primary teach.
They were delivered to MNTC by the Jiwaka Youth Foundation (JYF) with logistical support from the Jiwaka provincial government.
College principal Totobe Samilo acknowledged the Japanese Embassy for the support and said the donation would contribute meaningfully towards the students’ learning.
Samilo described the text books as a bonus for the college.
He said the books would be used in their trainee teacher programme for block teaching and in-service classes.
In thanking the donor, he said any assistance towards the improvement of education at the institution was greatly appreciated.
Samilo said that the distribution of mathematics and science text books was also vital for developing nations such as Papua New Guinea.
