THE Joyce-Bay Touch Rugby 9s Association grand finals in the women’s, junior and senior men’s divisions take place at Kilakila Secondary School on Sunday.
President Tony Henry said thanked his association for working hard to have a successful season.
Henry said one of their aims was to bring the community’s different ethnic groups together in a common cause which was sport.
His said the idea of orgnising sports was to get the people together and do away with regionalism and foster peace and harmony.
Henry said he was pleased to see that since they had started the competition there had been a sense of good will and unity in the Joyce Bay area.
“We’re using touch as a tool to change the mindset of Joyce Bay’s youth,” Henry said.
Henry appealed to the Joyce Bay community to be responsible and respectful during the grand finals on Sunday.
“We’ve had a good season so far and a lot of positives have come out of it so let’s end the season the way we started.”
