Royals tipped to win final

ROYALS are looking to add another premiership to their name when they meet Magani in the Port Moresby Rugby League’s 69th grand final at the National Football Stadium on Sunday.
Royals are favoured after a strong season that saw them secure the minor premiership well before the end of the regular season.
Magani, on the other hand, are celebrating making the final after a long period (they last played in a final in 1971).
Competition coordinator David Silovo said Royals had been one of the most improved clubs over the last three seasons and had a great roster that included captain and halfback Karis Peter and five-eighth Mathew Wawe who formed the competition’s best halves combination.
Magani have a genuine strike weapon in Makara Hura who has managed to carry his form deep into the playoffs.
Magani’s pack features consistent performers in Junior Chris, Port Moresby Vipers back-rower Yoks Bogave and former PNG Hunters prop Muka Peter Kulu.
“All in all, the PRL grand final should be a thriller and I’m tipping a open game which should be good for the fans,” Silovo said. The women’s grand final would see the Gogo Cola Hanuabada Hawks in their maiden grand final lock horns with Sisters who led by former PNG Orchids prop Brenda Goro featuring talented back Naomi Kuman, who kicked the field goal in their semifinal fixture to get them into the grand final.
Butterflies and Royals face off in the men’s Under-20 grand final.
Fixtures: Sun, Nov 3 – 1200 U20 Butterflies v Royals, 1300 WRL Hawks v Sisters, 1500 A grade Magani v Royals.
