Magani in the limelight after 47 years

PORT Moresby Rugby League foundation club Magani have waited 47 years but are finally in a grand final.
The PRL, which is into its 69th season, will stage its premiership decider on Sunday at the National Football Stadium with Magani taking on Royals in the first grade final.
Club president and former Southern Zone prop Laipen Wallen said Magani’s last appearance in the PRL grand final was in 1971 and “after 47 years of drought we have finally made it through”.
Wallen, who played and captained the club in the late 1970s and early 80s, thanked coach Chris Enara and his staff in trainer Arua Ben Moide and team manager Gairo Enara for their hard work behind the scenes to help get the team to the 2018 grand final.
“This club has been through some good times and tough times but we’ve been there throughout competing every year,” Wallen said.
Wallen thanked the club’s sponsors and loyal fans, especially those from the Aroma Coast, for sticking with the club.
Wallen, who was actively involved with the club for 29 years as a player, captain, coach and administrator, said Sunday would be proud moment for the club and wished them the best in their final.
