A TOTAL of 52 A-grade teams have so far expressed interest to compete in the JT Super Nines Cup rugby league tournament at Moresby South Stadium from March 2-13.
But tournament director Bagelo Solien said only Harbour City Tornadoes, Laumas, Waidex One, Waidex Two, Tuna Bay, K-Kogea, Taurama Sedu 3Y Brothers, Mekeo Ave, Gereka Mixed Brothers and Last Two Minutes had paid their registration fees.
He said only seven slots were still available on a first-come, first-serve basis for teams outside Moresby South Rugby League (MSRL).
“More teams are expected, but the spaces will run out soon by end of this week or next,” Solien said.
“Collecting registration forms does not confirm your participation.”
He said out of the 32 sides, all 15 MSRL clubs would each field a team.
Solien said reigning champions 54 Bears had yet to register for the 32-team tournament with the deadline for registration set for Feb 18.
He said City Dwellers, Gereka Sharks, Lahi Pawa, Koiari Nagavas, 24 Dust, Taurama Medics, Senunu Rigo Range, Het Wokman, Hohola, Miniogo Knights, RG Cowboys, Magolu Koki, Joyce Bay Stingrays, Downtown Raiders, Karu Kings, Kogeva Falcons, Kitoro 131 Jets, Ugabega Pythons, Dobo Warriors, Six-Mile Tigers One, Six-Mile Tigers Two, Countryside Cowboys, Pari Ruts Brothers, ID 24 Tigers, Borenomu Flyers, Konebada Pirates, Borderline Pirates, Bia Bullets, GB Matirogo, Gorobe Panthers, SSG Roosters One, SSG Roosters Two, Laloki Wildcats, Medic Dogs and Mahuru Eagles had collected registration forms.
“All registration fees should be deposited into MSRL’s Bank South Pacific Financial Limited Group account (No.7018142344) at the Boroko branch,” Solien said.
The tournament director said all receipts should be presented to him.
