Judiciary Services welcome five new judges

The Judiciary Services held a ceremonial court sitting on Friday to welcome five judges to the bench as the judges of National and Supreme Courts.
A total of 19 permanent judges, excluding the Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia, were present at the ceremony to welcome Justice Leka Nama Nablu, Justice Robert Lee Lindsay, Justice Terrence Harold Foulds, Justice Jeffery Leonard Shepherd and Justice William Neil to the bench.
Minister for Justice and Attorney-General Ano Pala welcomed the new five permanent judges on behalf of the State.
Pala said each of the judges had great experience in practicing law which resulted in their appointment.
He said they were appointed based on their own merits.
Private lawyer Alfred Manase, representing the PNG Law Society, also welcomed the five judges and said the society was confident that the judges would contribute immensely to the judiciary services and the country.
The new judges thanked the Judicial and Legal Services Commission for recognising their potentials and appointed them to serve as judges.
They also thanked their families, friends and colleagues for supporting them on their life journey from the very beginning till when they obtained the highest offices in the judiciary.
They assured the people of the country that they will be committed to carry out their judicial duties and serve the country without fear or favour.
The ceremonial sitting was chaired by Deputy Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika, who welcomed the five judges on behalf of the judiciary staff.
