K6mil for schools, roads upgrade

THE Eastern Highlands government launched 15 small civil work projects at a cost of K6.6 million last Friday.
The projects were mainly for maintenance of feeder roads and construction of buildings in educational institutions.
Deputy provincial administrators Ipae Maniha, Allanb Los, Lavert Ganimo, Awepstar Seka and Solomon Tato were present at the launching. Maniha, the provincial project manager, said they were for buildings in 10 schools, transport infrastructure civil works for five feeder roads and a bridge.
He explained that minor contracts below K500,000 were legally acceptable at their level as per the Public Financial Management Act.
He reminded all contractors to deliver projects within the scope and project time frame with zero variation.
School building projects to complete within 14 weeks will be Kainantu Secondary (Wemoho Construction) at K435,000; Pintanka Day High School (Bluescope Building Contractor) at K200,000; University of Goroka (Goraro Construction) at K500,000; Bena Secondary (Kezoki Building Maintenance) at K435,000; Henganofi Secondary (Gafu Builders) at K435,000; Kabiufa Secondary (Talikum Builders) at K400,000; Lufa Secondary (Dokoyovo Ltd) at K435,000; Rintebe Secondary (Maximus Builders) at K435,000; Okapa Secondary (Bilnape Investment) at K435,000 and Ivingoi Secondary (Denopha Builders) at K435,000.
The road and bridge constructions are Yamox road (Waimai Construction Ltd) at K500,000; Kaveve road and bridge (Kangi Construction Ltd) at K500,000; Akameku road (GJ Construction Ltd) at K500,000; Asaro Runumbe road (Provincial Transport and Civil Works Division) at K500,000; and, Yasubi/Yagusa road (Provincial Transport and Civil Works Division) at K500,000.
