EMMANUEL Kapi made a winning start to his BSP PNG National Men’s Snooker Titles campaign with a 3-1 win over Clyde Palmah at the Q Club, Lamana, last night.
Kapi, 23, said he had been playing snooker for six years but of late has been playing mainly pool for the Cool Grafix team in the PNG Media Pool competition.
“I didn’t prepare much for the snooker titles but I have been playing a lot of pool,” Kapi said.
Kapi said he was pleased to get a win (60-19, 53-39, 32-55 and 63-21) in his first outing and was excited about testing himself against the big guns in his group.
“It’s a strong group and I’m looking forward to playing the top guys like Nathan Fong and Joe Chan.
“I’m not really nervous. I just want to take them on and see what I can do.”
The men’s national titles, played at three venues — Laguna Hotel, Lamana Hotel and Aviat Club — is sponsored by The National and will continue its group stage until tomorrow with 40 players competing for spots in the last 16.
